Trenton Hansen and Stormi Hulm were crowned Homecoming King and Queen at Timber Lake High School on Monday evening. The coronation ceremony, attended by only seniors and their families and livestreamed on Facebook, kicked off a week of Homecoming activities.

Timber Lake City hires Garon as city maintenance manager

The Timber Lake City Board has hired Jerimiah Garon as maintenance manager effective September 21. He replaces Brad Kocmich, who resigned to take another position. Garon is currently employed by the Dewey County Highway Department.

Dewey County Commissioners vote 50 cent raise for employees

Meeting on Tuesday, the Dewey County Commissioners wrestled with the annual task of adopting a balanced budget. As always, the decision on wages is the big item. Auditor Mary Ducheneaux had prepared a table showing the cost of pay increases of 50 cents, 75 cents and $1.

Judge rules Hepper case is only about criminal charge

After hearing evidence from three witnesses, Fourth Circuit Judge Gordon Swanson decided on Tuesday that Wayne Hepper’s case should be limited to only the criminal charge of failing to stop for an emergency vehicle, not the question of whether the CRST COVID checkpoints are legal.

Clifton enters not guilty plea to murdering wife

A 25-year-old Minot, ND man has pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife and tampering with evidence, The charges stem from the discovery of a deceased woman at a residence in Faith on June 8. Duell McCall Clifton entered the plea in district court in Minot on Aug. 27.

Eric Cook dies in drowning accident

A 26-year-old Eagle Butte man died Saturday, Aug. 22, in a drowning accident at the Forest City bridge on Highway 212 west of Gettysburg. Authorities say Eric Lee Cook was taken by ambulance to Avera Gettysburg Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

U.S. DISTRICT COURT

August 20, 2020 Joseph Blue Bird, 33, of Rapid City was indicted on August 11, 2020 by a federal grand jury for failure to register as a sex offender. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on August 20, 2020, and pled not guilty.
