Schedule set for Dewey Co. 4-H Achievement Day July 23

Dewey County’s 4-H Achievement Day is coming up on July 23 at the Timber Lake Community Center.From 9 to 11 a.m. 4-H static exhibits are entered and interview judged. At the same time Cloverbud projects are entered and are interviewed by community members.From 9 to 9:45 a.m.

Sr. Lorane Coffin celebrates 75 years as Benedictine Sister

Sister Lorane Coffin was honored on July 11 in Rapid City to celebrate her 75th anniversary of being a Benedictine Sister. Father Mike Mulloy presided at a special Mass in her honor which was followed by a reception.
The Krueger family from Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin visited Timber Lake last week to get a look at Tucker Kraft’s hometown. They are friends of Cody and Tracy Maher and Terry Renderneck and were on their way to Yellowstone. They came dressed in Packers attire but stopped at Dakota Image to pick up some more. They saw the Tucker Kraft exhibit at the Museum (above) and had lunch at The Corner Bar & Grill.

Highway Patrol announces August sobriety checkpoints

The South Dakota Highway Patrol will hold sobriety checkpoints in 12 counties throughout the month of August. Checkpoints are planned for Brown, Brookings, Campbell, Codington, Davison, Hand, Jackson, Jerauld, Lyman, Meade, Stanley, and Yankton counties.

Western SD T-Rex fetches $50 million at auction

A Tyrannosaurus rex fossil discovered on a ranch in western South Dakota has sold for more than $50 million in an auction held July 14 in New York.According to the Sotheby’s website, the auction is closed and the dinosaur fossil nicknamed “Gus” was sold for $50.

Tye Boldt graduates from BSC

Tye Boldt of Isabel graduated from Bismarck State College (BSC) with a diploma in Automotive Technology during the college’s 86th commencement ceremony on May 15 at the BSC Bavendick Center. Tye is the son of Bridget and Tony Russell of Isabel and the late Jeff Boldt.
