Saddle bronc riders Shorty Garrett and Cole Elshere both found their way into the winners circle last week while competing at PRCA events in Arkansas and Iowa.

Michigan school naming field for 1965 TLHS alum

A 1965 graduate of Timber Lake High School will be honored this summer when the Dowagiac Union School in Dowagiac, MI, names its new baseball field after him. Dean Hagen of Niles, MI, coached 21 years of baseball at the school and never had a losing season.

Strongman competition held in Dupree

Shannon Hinrichs and Jorden Little Wounded competing in the tire flipping race. The Dupree Powerlifting Team, which is a rather independent group coached by Mr. Shannon Hinrichs and raises most of its’ own funding, brought back the Strong Man and Strong Woman Competitions to Dupree Pioneer Days.

Tucker Kraft named AFCS pre-season All-American

Three South Dakota State offensive standouts were named last week to the Athlon Football Championship Subdivision Pre-Season All-America Team, including junior tight end Tucker Kraft of Timber Lake.

Local competitors shine in New Town PRCA event

Several of the region’s PRCA competitors were among the top finishers at the New Town Rodeo in New Town, ND, on Friday and Saturday, June 17- 18, including two who pocketed first place prize money. Summer Kosel of Glenham garnered top honors in barrel racing with a time of 15.
