Burress wins state Junior High tie-down roping championship

Hayes Burress of Isabel was crowned South Dakota Jr. High Rodeo Association (SDJHRA) tie-down roping champion at the state Jr. Finals rodeo held Friday, May 20, in Rapid City. The title qualifies Burress for the National Jr. High School Rodeo to be held in Perry, GA, this summer.

Dupree’s Farlee wins 6A discus crown

Dupree thrower Cassidy Farlee won the Region 6A discus championship last Thursday, May 19, in Winner, as both the Tiger boys and girls teams finished fifth overall in the team standings. Farlee, a sophomore, hit a mark of 99-4 feet with her best toss to claim top honors in the event.

Panthers double up on Region track titles

Timber Lake took its brooms to the Region 8B track championships in Lemmon last Thursday, May 19, and made a clean sweep of the event, winning both the boys and girls team titles.

Panther Jr. High teams win LMC championships

The future of Timber Lake High School track and field was on display at the Little Moreau Conference (LMC) track meet in Timber Lake on May 12 and judging by the results, that future looks bright. Both the Panther Jr. High boys and girls teams captured conference championships.

Timber Lake to face some new competition next hoops season

Timber Lake High School Athletic Director Ryan Gimbel recently announced some new, highly-competitive opponents have been added to the boys and girls basketball schedules for the 2022-2023 season. The Lady Panthers will add Aberdeen Roncalli to its schedule along with Kadoka Area.

TL taking large contingent to State Class B Track Meet

Timber Lake will be well-represented at the State Class B High School Track Meet at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls Thursday through Saturday, May 26-28. Head Coach Ryan Gimbel said more student-athletes qualified for the state meet this year than any he’s previously coached in Timber Lake.

Panther thinclads make the most of TL Last Chance Meet

Athletes from Timber Lake, Herreid-Selby, Bison, Harding County, McIntosh and Faith took part in the Timber Lake Last Chance Meet at Doug Kraft Field on Monday, May 16, hoping to put up results that may qualify them for the State Class B Track Meet next weekend.
