The South Dakota High School Rodeo Association is set to open its 2022 practice rodeo schedule this weekend with the New Underwood Rodeo held Friday through Sunday, April 22-24, in Rapid City. This year’s schedule includes 13 rodeos and concludes May 30.

Dupree’s Olson scores trifecta at Bowman Jr. High meet

Dupree eighth grader Spencer Olson captured first place finishes in three events - high jump, 110 meter hurdles and 200 meter hurdles - to lead the Tiger boys track team to a seventh place finish at the Bowman, ND, Jr. High Track Meet last Monday, April 11.

Panther boys win TL Track Tune-up

The Timber Lake Panthers posted first place finishes in six individual events, won two relays, and finished second in two others to top the 9-team field of boys’ teams at the Timber Lake Track Tune-Up held Friday, April 8, at Doug Kraft Field.

Eleven members of the Dewey County Wildcat Deadeyes 4-H Shooting Sports Club in Isabel will compete at the 2022 South Dakota 4-H State Shooting Tournament held in Ft. Pierre April 22-24. Team members can compete in three divisions: BB gun, archery and air rifle, with some shooting in all three.

McLaughlin boys strong in distances at TL

Two members of the McLaughlin Mustang boys track team gave notice at the Timber Lake Track Tune-up last Friday that they will be formidable opponents in distance events this season. Sophomore Wamni Kills Crow finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:22.

Lakota All-Star games slated April 23

Several area players are among the 50 boys and girls from across the country selected to play in the annual Lakota All-Star basketball game on Saturday, April 23, at the Monument’s Summit Arena in Rapid City.
