Kraft, Lawrence come up big for Lady Panthers in LMC Tourney

Sophomores Shay Kraft and Carlie Lawrence lit up the scoreboard for Timber Lake during the Little Moreau Conference Tournament last week, combining to score 122 points in three games to help the Lady Panthers finish third in the eight-team shootout.

TL’s Kraft, Lawrence named to All-LMC Tournament Team

Timber Lake’s Shay Kraft and Carlie Lawrence, who led the Lady Panthers to a third place finish in the 2021 Little Moreau Conference Girls Basketball Tournament last week, are among 13 players from the eight-school field to be named to the All-LMC Tournament Team.

Sully Buttes edges TL boys with buzzer-beating basket

Timber Lake jumped out to an 11-point first quarter lead but could not maintain it as Sully Buttes cut the deficit by one before halftime and hit a last-second jumper at the end to collect the win Jan. 19 at Onida. The loss drops the Panthers to 3-6 overall while Sully Buttes moved to 5-6.

Taken Alive drops 28 for McIntosh

Junior guard Charles Taken Alive poured in a career-high 28 points for McIntosh, but it wasn’t enough for the TIgers to get past North Central in non-conference boys’ basketball action last Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Lady Panthers come up short, rally late vs. Sully Buttes

Sully Buttes built a 15-point lead but had to hold off a late rally by Timber Lake to collect a 62-54 win over the Lady Panthers in girls’ hoops action in Onida last Tuesday. The loss was the second in a row for Timber Lake, which dropped to 5-3 on the season.

This team of Timber Lake fifth and sixth grade girls played in a tournament in Aberdeen on Jan. 17, where they defeated Watertown Gold and lost to the Groton Tigers and the Ipswich Tigers.

Several young basketball teams, coached by parents and other volunteers, have been playing neighboring teams and making road trips to tournaments. These fourth grade boys are coached by Sarah Schweitzer.

Lady Panthers cruise by McIntosh, fall to New Underwood

The Timber Lake Lady Panthers returned from Christmas break to take on two teams at different ends of the win/loss scale last week, coming away with a split and moving to 5-2 overall.

TL boys fall to Faulkton in Redfield hoops classic

The Faulkton Area Lions used a distinct height advantage to rule the boards and roll past the Timber Lake Panthers 54-40 in the Redfield Boys Basketball Classic on Saturday, Jan. 16. The loss dropped Timber Lake to 3-5 on the season while Faulkton Area moved to 7-2 overall.
