Kraft opens training camp on PUP list due to injury and surgery

Both tight end Tucker Kraft and right tackle Zach Tom started Green Bay Packers training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List due to pectoral injuries they suffered during the off-season.

Hometown cowboys take top honors at Eagle Butte events

Since the bull riding and ranch bronc riding events held in Eagle Butte Friday and Saturday, July 1920, were part of the community’s Hometown Days celebration, it was only fitting that a pair of hometown cowboys walked away with the top prizes.

Kraft, Bauer host football camp in TL

A two-day football camp recently hosted by former Timber Lake High School standout Hank Kraft and Mobridge-Pollock High School graduate Brady Bauer at Doug Kraft Field in Timber Lake drew 24 campers.

Local calf ropers, bronc riders dominate Hermosa event

Faith cowboy Cole Elshere, currently ranked 18th in the PRCA’s world standings, finished third in the second performance of saddle bronc riding at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. Elshere scored 79 points to earn $1,177 but also sustained a torn bicep which will sideline him indefinitely.

Rope Roghair, son of Bryce and Anne Roghair of Isabel, finished 8th in boys cutting at the 2024 National High School Finals Rodeo held last week in Wyoming. Roghair also placed 21st overall in saddle bronc riding.

Heading into the final weekend of July, area rodeo fans will find some familiar names in the current 2024 South Dakota Rodeo Association (SDRA) season standings - specifically in the bull riding, bronc riding and barrel racing events.

Wrestling camp set July 20 in TL

Two-time state wrestling champion and 2021 Dakota Wrestler of the Year Cael Larson will be the featured guest at the first-ever Timber Lake Wrestling Camp on Saturday, July 20 in Timber Lake. The event is free to all Timber Lake Youth Wrestling Club members.

Ziebach County 4-H Rodeo shortened due to storm damage

A hot, dusty first round of action at the 64th annual Ziebach County 4-H Rodeo in Dupree on Saturday, July 13, gave way to a severe thunderstorm with high winds that night, forcing the cancellation of the second round on Sunday, July 14.

Dupree competitors among winners at Boss Cowman Rodeo

Trey Young and Minda Woodward, both of Dupree, were among the event winners at the SDRA-sanctioned Boss Cowman Rodeo held in Friday through Sunday, July 12-14, in Lemmon.Young took home top honors in calf roping with a 10.7 second run that paid $612.
