Meeting set Feb. 10 regarding Wounded Knee artifacts

The future of recently repatriated Native American artifacts from the Wounded Knee Massacre will be the topic of discussion at a public meeting set Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Cheyenne River Motel Conference Room in Eagle Butte. The meeting, slated from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Eagle Butte man sentenced for possession of firearm

A 45-year-old Eagle Butte man was sentenced recently to 18 months in federal prison after being convicted of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. The sentencing occurred Jan. 22 in U.S. District Court.

Eagle Butte man sentenced for assault with dangerous weapon

A 35-year-old Eagle Butte man was sentenced to 12 months and one day in federal prison last week after pleading guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon in December. Taryn Peter Ducheneaux was sentenced by Chief Judge Roberto Lange on Monday, January 22 in U.S. District Court.

No school Feb. 2, 16, 19

Timber Lake students will have no school on Friday, February 2 due to teacher in-service. Friday, February 16 is day off for students and teachers. Monday, February 19, Presidents Day, is scheduled as a no-school day but may be used as a snow day if needed.
