Corson Co. Fair set for Aug. 8-9 in McIntosh

The 2020 Corson County Fair will be held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 8-9, but with a few modifications due to the coronavirus pandemic. Things actually kick off on Friday, Aug. 7, for 4-H members who display small animals. The small animal show will begin at 8 a.m, and is closed to the public.

State’s reserves increase to $193M

South Dakota closed the 2020 budget year on June 30 with a surplus of $19.1 million, Governor Kristi Noem announced last week. Although total revenue finished $7.9 million lower than estimates, the state general fund budget ended with expenditures approximately $27.2 million lower than budgeted.

Corn looks good

The corn and sunflower crops in the area are looking pretty promising. According to Mike Huber of Agtegra, they are coming into the critical stage for pollination and seed fill. “The potential for high yielding row crops is good if we can catch some timely rains,” Huber said.
